2012 GL Headlight Washers, standard feature or optional? And I guess all GL's have the cutouts for them in the bumper?

I believe that they are optional. Take a look at your user manual. If the feature has an asterisk next to it, that means that it is optional.

They definitely were not standard equipment. My '10 GL450 didn't have them, but my '11 GL550 does.
Both cars had the washer covers, but if you lifted up the ones on the 450, they were blanks.
Just guessing as I didn't buy either of these cars new - but they might have been part of the lighting package with the xenons. I'm sure someone here can confirm.

Ah, thanks. I'm assuming it's part of the lighting package. In my opinion they are worthless anyway. I just pulled a cap of to look and there was nothing below it, and I thought they all came with them.

They come in handy after a snowstorm when the front is covered in road salt and it’s too cold and sloppy for a car wash for a week or two. The salt covers the headlights and reduces visibility at night. Now, if you live in Miami or other warmer climate, I can see how they’re kind of pointless...

Euro regulations require headlight washers (and automatic leveling) be installed whenever HID lighting is installed. Mercedes does not delete either for USA models.

If you have halogen rather than HID headlights its very unlikely you'll have headlight washers and I'd frankly be surprised if they can be ordered.
