Front Right SAM Module?
Aside from now smelling like a pack of wild hobos had a soup kitchen in my car, my front parking lights and outer left turn signal mysteriously came on and won't go off. I checked the battery compartment and there were a few drops of liquid on the terminal side of the battery. There appears to be some residue on the SAM module rear socket. The rest of the compartment appears dry. The rear passenger footwell carpet is pretty damp and getting the dried out as we speak. I ended up pulling the bulbs out of the parking lights and outer left turn signal to keep them from killing the battery.
From reading on other MB forums, I see that this could indicate that the SAM module has a problem. Could this be it or could it be something else? Any ideas? I haven't driven the car or anything yet in case I might disturb any moisture pooled up that I can't see.

If the scanner shows a CAN communication problem you can the the SAM module and try of fix it before buying a new one. If you have the tools, you can take it out and try to clean with a contact cleaner. To remove it you need to take out the front passenger seat removing the plastic that covers the front torx bolts then you have to move the seat all to front and remove the torx bolts that holds the seat. After that, disconnect the battery and remove it. After that only disconnect the auxiliary battery and then you have access to remove the 2 screws that hold the SAM, you will need a Allen tool to loose then, now you can disconnect all the plugs and remove it.
It's a bit harder, but not impossible.
Keep in mind that after doing that you will need to reprogram at least the solar roof and windows, if you have access to a Star Diagnosis Scanner it will be easier.
Best regards,
Sergio

I don't have the Star Diagnostic Scanner, is there a reliable source for them? I noted that there were some for sale on Amazon but the prices were varying wildly. What do you mean by reprogramming btw? Will the windows and such not work, or is there something else that happens? Will other OBD2 scanners work for this? I don't mind spending the money on the scanner if it's worth it but I wouldn't mind spending $40 either, lol.
Thanks again,
Rob
For some reason I don't know when we disconnect all the batteries most of the time, the solar roof window need to be reprogramed and sometimes all the doors windows. Well using a Star Diagnosis is simple, but they can bet reprogramed opening them, each one individually, you have to hold the button to open for at least 3 seconds, after that you can close the window and again hold the button for 3 seconds.
Unfortunately I don't know a reliable source for Star Diagnosis, one thing I am assure, all the scanners that come fro China have problems. The one I have I bought from a guy here in Brazil that only sells the original ones, unfortunately since last month, the left side of the keyboard of my computer Dell D630 is not working, I think it has to be replaced. Well, it is a very old computer, and this sort o thing can happen.
About compatibles scanners, I was told that the Auto Creader VII works well, but I am not sure. I am waiting a friend of mine to bring the one he has to see if it really works as it works on his BMW, if so I will post here.
Best regards,
Sergio
