Mercedes Benz GL 320 CDI
Need advice!!

have a 2007 GL 320 CDI with 190000 miles and after a short drive on the interstate the engine start rattling very loud, seems like something broke inside... very noisy. Stopped the car and I checked the oil level it was normal, a little white smoke came up when I opened the oil cap. I waited for about 30 min and restart the car, the same rocks crunching noise from the top of the engine, I shut it off right away. Anyone experience anything like this? Please help, thank you very much! I used a scanner and I just got some transmission codes( I believe P0717 and P0718), nothing from the engine! No check engine light on? I always change the oil on time and use liqui.Moly 5w30 made in Germany... The engine sounds really bad I just restarted for 3 sec and sounds metal on metal...I am afraid I can seize the engine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It seems to be a problem of the transmission conductor plate, but could be worst, probably you need to repair the transmission.

I don't know what those codes are, but perhaps you could put the car in neutral, then turn the engine over by hand to see if you can isolate it as either an engine issue or a transmission issue.
