hi! I recently received a 2011 GL 450 4 Matic. I want to listen to music off my phone. I bought a Media Interface cable and then plugged in my phone using the USB. It said Device Incompatible but it charges my phone. I did some research and it said it was because the car was old it didn’t have the lightning port technology. So I then tried to use an old iPad 2 with the 30 pin cord. That did not work either, it charged and said device incompatible. My Bluetooth works with the car but does not play audio. I do not want to keep buying cords and trying them without a real solution. Anyone else have this problem?

I would like a longer cord for this. My 2012 works on my iPhone 8plus with a lightning adapter on the end, but this is only with the factory cord. I ordered a lightning cable and it did the same as yours, only charged. The adapter is not a great solution because now the phone is in the glove box. Sorry I can't be more help!
