Suspension problem

Our GL550 recently sags in the rear when the car is off for a day and not being used. When I start it up, it levels back to normal height. I'm guessing rear air bags are leaking? I have a "ride height malfunction" on my dash, and I just checked the rear tires and the right rear tire has its inner part worn...so I'm gonna need to replace the tires too.

I'm trying to see if it's bad for the rear shocks that the car sits all the way down for now while I wait to get it to the mechanic for repairs...im going out of town for a couple of weeks so I won't be able to take it until I get back...also, is it ok to just replace the tires in pairs or do I need to replace all 4?

Thanks for the help fellas

Are you mechanically inclined or willing to learn?

The rear air springs, as from owners who have performed the repair, are surprisingly easy to replace.

It might be worth it to watch the videos and the decide if you want to attempt it yourself.

As long as the tires are the same compound (ie brand) and you change each axle at a time you'll be fine.

If youre not driving it, it should be oké. But I would worry that your compressor might also be on the way out v

I do and I work on my cars most of the time... I just think twice about touching these cars because of all the electronics...but I'll probably give it a shot.

So can I assume there's a good chance that it's the air bags that are the problem because of the current situation with the truck or are there other things I have to consider looking into?

Ah, if that's the case you'll have no problem working on it I suspect.

Just visit some of the threads and the YouTube videos detailing the process beforehand tosgive you some confidence going in.

For this issue, yes replacing the rear air springs should fix it.
All you have to do is choose between oe Bilstein or aftermarket arnott springs.
I lean towards Bilstein. Others toward arnott.
Rockauto has greatpricing . Fcp euro has a lifetime replacement warranty.

Thanks! I have the Arnott parts on order and should be getting them this week...just sucks I have to get tires too. I'm hoping I only need to replace a pair instead of all four since my tires are fairly new.

So today the rear passenger side of my wife’s vehicle began to sag. My question is, what parts will I need to order from Arnott Industries for a 2012 Mercedes Benz GL350 and not being mechanically astute what is a reasonable cost to install the rear parts in California?
Contacted Arnott Industries and was given the information I needed.
