New HID headlight assembly

Why did the pheasant cross the road? To take out my headlight, of course. Not pleasant for either of us.

Suddenly I needed a new headlight assembly. And I have those stupid, stupid HID lights. Something the other side of $1400 per light at the dealer.

After a great deal of searching here and there I found a supplier on Ebay with Hella brand lights for the car. Less than half the price of MB prices. Since 300,000 miles plus had really fogged up the lens covers I bit the bullet and bought the pair. They came (in enormous boxes) with all the bulbs, but no ballast for the HID. Other than that, they are perfect. I assume that Hella must be the OEM supplier. Highly recommended.

Are you sure they’re hid and not the stock halogen?

The hid came with curve illumination.
it sounds like you bought stock halogen ....and are losing the curve illumination (the moving bulbs)

I bought by part number. Replacements for 1648204361. Xenon. We took the ballasts off the old unit; everything else wired directly up.

I would have been glad to get halogens, but the wiring is different.
