my Left hand factory fitted DRL burned out and found virtually no information on this online, so I thought I'd join up and create this walkthrough.
error message

light not working

found the problem

GL DRL part number 1648200956 (164 820 09 56) required for left - LEFT AND RIGHT ARE DIFFERENT UNITS
interchangeable with ML DRL part number 1649060351 (left) 1649060451 (right)
always double check part numbers before ordering replacements.

replacement pair direct from china

parts arrived in 2 weeks

trim removal

with bottom clips released, pull out and towards the middle of the car

light exposed

T25 Torx required for retaining srews

light and trim fall forward exposing the wiring

use flat head screwdriver to release the retaining clip on the wiring connector, then just pull connector off

then just pull connector off

new light fitted by simply reversing steps using new light unit. test before reattaching trim

new light is less yellow than original

if you're going to replace one then it's worth replacing both

result is a nice, clean white light and no error on the dashboard.

For your only post, just want to say thanks for taking the time to document the process. Helpful to me as I mess with my DRLs.Originally Posted by BigAsh
