Battery change
Hey guys,
bought this GL 450 at the first of the year with a relatively weak battery. Finally got around to dropping the $200 for a new one. I was curious if while you’re in there, you recommend changing the 4039 type battery for auxiliary. It’s a 2008 and I have no way of knowing if it’s been replaced. I haven’t actually been in there yet either, I just saw a YouTube vid where the guy recommended replacing it. He used an AGM type, rather than the SLA battery that’s there. As always, I appreciate all the advice this forum brings

I was told by my Indy to not worry about till the dash display tells you to replace it. Apparently they last a lot longer than the main battery. I guess it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Pulling the main battery is pretty easy/quick so it's not like you're saving a huge amount of time by pulling it again.
But, hey, if it's on Youtube, it must be gospel, right?

On a 12 year old vehicle, I would replace the aux battery. It's 10 minutes more work, because you're in there anyway, to replace the main battery. You should get 12 more years of service on the new aux battery, at which time it will be a classic car one year later.
