Down again

As You can see, she's down again..
One I had disconnected the upper front towers, and carefully put pressure with my air compressor and locked it, the car stayed up..
But as soon I connected the hoses, started the car up, car compressor pumped good, it did not come up properly

Have you tried spraying soapy water on the suspect areas, yet?

well, sorry NOT all places! I have not sprayed around the air valve area yet. Have not taken that area apart yet to check. do I have to pull the whole inner fender for that and wheel? Or can I pull the head light and reach from there?

Ha!

I've never pulled the headlight, but I seem recall that the last time I pulled the inner fender it was pretty quick. I'm not at the vehicle to look right now, but I wonder if there's enough room to see (and squirt) the valve block from the engine bay side of things?

yes, either from top down behind the passenger headlight - but pull back the fender inner liner is easy and gives better access to spray.

i am very interested in how the slime will work and if there are any deleterious effects to other components in the airmatic system.

Whats new for today..?
Right! I found my issue!!
I sprayed, again all over, on the valve block (by the way I got thru the wheel well) the pump, the front shocks, the airlines all way to each corner, on the air tank reservoir..
Nothing..
BUT, when I grabbed my pump, that was hanging in the cables and airlines, because I wanted to really reach to soak the whole unit in soapy water.... my hand on the underside of the pump held the part that is the airdryer, and all the soapy water in my hand started to bubble like crazy!
So the air dryer made of plastic, had cracked in one of the press lines from the forming of the item, and hair fine crack that I could not even see, but once pressure raised, it bubble like crazy!!
Called Mercedes to see if I could buy just that part, due to nice and good pressure from the pump... nope just the whole pump was to be sold..
So for now, til I buy/order and Arnott unit (and I probably change the valve body in that same moment just in case, but need some more paycheck first) .. I cleaned up that Air dryer housing and when to Home Depot, bought a 2" ABS pipe, Epoxy Resin "glue" and an ABS seal/glue, I cut the 2" pipe in a C form that could "click" onto the housing, after I totally filled the whole surface with the Epoxy and "clicked" the C that I formed so it covered so much of the area as possible\
I used my Dremel to make it "nice".. well, useful at least. . And put 2 band type clamps around til tomorrow and hope it seals good
It should, I totally drown the unit with Epoxy, both before and after put the C onto it
So I let you folks know how it goes one of this days

I can't picture the part and what it looks like in my head, but there may be nothing wrong with leaving that temporary fix as a "permanent" fix. As long as it doesn't cause stress on another component by now being super rigid. But again, I can't quite picture it. But at least you found the culprit!

Air dryer fix

So I adding some pics from my "fix". Remember that it is just a temporary fix til I can afford to buy a new Arnott pump and Valve body. I don't think I need a new valve body, but I want to change that one too so all of my Airmatic is new after that. on one of the picture I holding a screw driver, kinda pointing, that is the area where the original form line is from macing the plastic part, That line cracked, was soo hair thin that even with my reading glasses I could not see it, but with pressure and soap water, I saw it leaked quite a bit and bubble crazy. Now fixed and together

The car has been standing on the highest setting for almost a week, no sagging whatsoever. I know the repair is ugly, and I was planning to take the band type starts off once solid, But I just left the there, and put even more epoxy over themYou can't really tell from the pics, but I put almost 1/4 inch of epoxy all around, and the "C-clip" made of 2" sewer connection part are almost visible
The C-clip was made to snap onto the canister and cover the crack, and glued with epoxy. I put epoxy on the canister and snapped the clip on, and after that put the start bands on and cover the whole thing. I could just dip it in a jar, if I had enough!!
As Said, ugly as *&^%, but I don't think it going to break in the first time.

Air dryer fix

What I did not get pictures of, is that before I mounted the unit on the car, I totally covered the Airdryer part with Epoxy. Now You can barely see the clamps or the C clip at all
I think it is thick enough.

Only "popping" in here to say, my "field fix" on the airdryer still holds! Compressor still pumps AND holding air just fine
