Spark Plugs Etc

Changed spark plugs (Bosch YR7MPP33), air filters (Dry AEM filters), and getting ready to do the sway bar end links. All purchased from FCP Euro.

Just to be clear, I will NOT need an alignment after replacing the end links, will I?

2010 GL550 with 126k. -Spark plugs were black. Which I was surprised about. Others have said thiers didn't look too bad after replacement. The plugs that I took out said "NGK S2 MERCEDES-BENZ".

No, you don't need alignment after replacing the end links.

***UPDATE***
I changed out the sway bar end links last night. Easy as stated on this form. While replacing the drivers said I looked at the level sensor on the airmatic that pops out.

It was extremely loose fitting compared to passenger side and I did not want to pop it in fear that it would snap in half.

Rewind 2 days ago and my 2010 GL550 was getting other work done and the drivers accurater threw a faulty code. The front struts and springs are new from Arnott 2 years ago.

When I lowered the GL after the sway bar links were complete, the entire front airbags deflated until I started the GL again. All is normal again except the intermittent airmatic arrow up light conti ues to stay on.

All commets welcomed.

Thanks, Chris from St. Louis.

That is typically the compressor. The strut is probably leaking and it burned up the compressor.

Blown V8,

Thanks for the response. I was thinking the same. What riddles me is I can raise the GL at night, and it will hold air til morning and I press the lower button and it lowers back into sport mode (airmatic error arrow up).

I want to stress to this to anyone. For me, the sway bar end links made a night and day difference for driving AND handling on the GL. No more drifting or swaying at highway speeds. No more knocking. The ride quality feels better (could be a placebo effect).

Again I ordered from FCPEURO. I ordered the Lemforder 1643202132, which is OE.

As for the spark plug replacements, again I went the OE Bosch. Old plugs were black and appeared to have a little oil on them. I can absolutely tell a difference in acceleration and I can't even tell the engine is running at idle.

BlownV8- How's the GL63 running? What mileage do you have on it? I was thinking of trading the Trackhawk in on one.

I think I have close to 85k miles now. I'd have to check to be certain but should be directionally correct. Love it but it eats tires. I'd imagine the Trackhawk does too.

I don't drive the Trackhawk nearly as much as I'd like. It stays garaged mostly. My GL550 is my first Mercedes. Prior I had mostly Lexus vehicles.

I am an essential worker and was just promoted into a better position so I want to keep my GL550 as my daily and its a toss up between the GL63 and the S class.

I also love the captain seats in the new GLS.

Blownv8 you have/had an S class too, correct? As far as cheaper to own, which was best? I don't have a family to haul around but I'm tall, 6'5", so i appreciate bigger vehicles for leg room.

As always, thanks for the responses.

Never buy a car with ABC suspension if you want something reliable and cheap to maintain. I've had a few ABC equipped vehicles and would not ever recommend as daily drivers. Get the GL63. You will love everything except the gas mileage but, with that said, it's probably no worse than the X164 GL550. I get around 18 on the HWY and around 12 in town or around 15 mixed in the 63. The fun factor is worth it and a SUV this big shouldn't be able to handle like it does. It's a quantum leap compared to the X164.
