Beloved 09' GL450 won't start, dual cam sensor low voltage codes
I flopped sensors with the left side and the errors remained and didn't follow so I have narrowed it down to either the wiring on the driver's side (which moved it a bit to replace the valve cover) or perhaps the ECM.
So questions:
1 - I visually checked the wiring inside the plastic cover and it looks like it's in good shape with no breaks but when I run a volt test both of the cam sensors read 5v on one side of the plug (center is ground) and ) 0.5V on the other side of the plug BUT the passenger side cam sensor harnesses (which are working fine) are showing 5V on one side of the plug and 12V on the other. Would bad wires cause a voltage drop? Is it supposed to be the same voltage on each cam sensor bank?
2 - Could the bad coil have blown the ECM? The coil had a huge visual crack in it.
3 - Can I buy an ECM from EBay (I see them for around $300 used) or does it need to be programmed to my exact car? The ones on EBay are the same part number (which is printed right on the bottom) so is it plug and play?
Thank you in advance!!
