2007 gl320 diesel
Towed now won’t go in reverse
2007 Mercedes gl diesel alternator went was getting towed in neutral then took key out and automatically went into park. Got tugged but not pulled and realized was not in neutral anymore. Now won’t go in reverse. Is there a sensor reset or something. I remember someone else having this problem with a Mercedes. Any help?

Charge your aux and main battery and see if that does it. The auxiliary battery (under your passenger front seat, next to the main battery) has one job and that is to operate the shifter when the main battery is drained.
Did you flat tow it? That’s bad juju if you did.

Towing a Auto car without the car running will cause damage to the transmission unless you adhere to the recommendations that are set out in the owners manual, which are generally no faster than xx miles an hour and to tow for no more than xx miles.
A automatic transmission works by pumping fluid around inside the transmission, when the car is not running there is no lubrication, the wheels turn the diff, the diff turns the tailshaft and it turns the moving components in the trans, except for the crucial oil pump that lubricates the trans when the engine is running.
