How-to video: GL350 Serpentine belt & Oil Filter Housing replacement
Hey guys I recently cleaned up a common oil leak on the OM642 engine (in the GL350 in this example). I have a small youtube channel as well. I mostly do homesteading and How-To style videos. I recorded this fix because I didnt see a ton of information on it online for the 3L Diesel. It also covers the drive belt which is fairly simple to change on these. Let me know what you all think.
keep in mind I'm not a mechanic, just a guy with a camera LOL. Anyways thanks and keep up the good fight (which appears to be oil leaks on this OM642) !

Also keep in mind I recorded this voice-over AFTER a 12-hour shift working on high voltage powerlines all day LOL. I just noticed my voice gets a bit raspy halfway through. On well tried my best.

Thank you, Eddy - very well done and informative! Voice-over was great - no issues in understanding anything you said.
I like the idea of categorizing the screws by making a drawing. One quick suggestion... tape the screws in place in case you accidentally bump them! Or, use cardboard and you can punch them through the cardboard to hold them in place. Regardless, keeping them organized is a great tip that you added!

that is a great idea for sure. I imagine ill be working my way up to the oil cooler seals someday. now that video will be long and in depth. I feel like its something all OM642 owners will be dealing with at some point lol. Cheers.

Well when I went to look at this GL350 at the used car dealership he had just replaced the two front air struts... the compressor was toast though. He put a brand new one in before delivery... lucky for me. lol
