Mileage from tires
I developed a slow leak in my rear passenger tire, brought it to NTB to have it repaired and was told the tires had no thread left and they could not legally repair it. Theses are Hankook tires with about 15,000 miles on them and they told me that Hankook has no mileage grantee on them. They said that Michelin has a 55,000 mile warranty on them so I ordered two. What I want to know is if anyone has had these tires and what kind if life did you get out of them.

An x164 is a heavy car and will get the best and smoothest ride from a soft tire compound. Unfortunately that will eat the tires quickly.
I’ll get about 30k out of my Goodyear wranglers.
and you should have four like tires on a car with permanent four wheel drive, such as the 4Matic system is.

15K miles, however, is very much on the low side of things. Yes, some tires are better than others - but they should be lasting longer than that. In most cases, it's driving habits that lead to the excessively short mileage or improper inflation. As a comparison, I've got 37,800 on my Toyo Versado CUV's and probably have about 8k to 10K left till they won't pass inspection. I rotate every 5K miles.
You mentioned "was told there was no tread left". Did you look at them yourself? Have you ever? It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep an eye on tread life yourself - just so you're aware of how they're wearing.

Yep 15k and it's not like I peel out with them are anything. Mostly used on my 70 mile each way commute. I will not be buying Hankook tires again. Just picked it up with the new Michelin's on it. It seems to ride a little rougher but I will put up with it for a 55k mileage warranty I guess the foam rubber composite the Hankook were constructed with accounted for their smooth ride.

I bought 4 Michelin Premier LTX tires from my MB dealer on July 6 2018 for my 2014 GL450. Mileage was 56.211. Rotated when service was due. Went to dealer last week for state inspection. They would not pass it since the the rear tread was down to 2/32. Mileage was 77,500, so 21,300 miles on the tires. Fronts were about 4/32. Came home and checked Michelin site. Tires were supposed to have 60k treadwear warranty. Emailed the service adviser who came back with a less than satisfactory response. Went back on the Michelin site and sent them a msg about the treadwear. Next day I got back a msg that was certainly written by at least 2 lawyers. BUT they gave me a case nbr and said to visit the nearest Michelin dealer. The nearest dealer was a small shop around the corner. I looked some more and found that Discount Tire was an authorized dealer. I went to them as I had purchased tires there for my GTO a couple of years ago. Due Covid they had a tent set up outside with staff. I pulled up, told them the problem, and was invited to park. A young man came out, said hello, checked the tire depth front and rear, and motioned me inside. He went behind the counter and I showed him the case nbr. He said he didn't need it as Discount time was an authorized settlement agent for treadwear warranty claims. He typed some stuff into his terminal and said he could offer me $133.00 credit each for all 4 tires. I said "done" and bought 4 Michelin Cross Climate tires with a 50k treadwear warranty. Needless to say I was pleased. Moral of the story? Be polite, be firm, and most of all, never give up.

Yes, not so good to have two different brand (not to mention age/mileage) tires on a full time four wheel drive vehicle.
Interesting thing about Michelin’s new Cross Climate tires ... must be extremely new and revolutionary technology as never before has a (supposed) 55k mile tire been qualified to be also good for winter. I’m sceptical. Even more amazing to me is that Mercedes has given these an MO rating.
