Remove "40" Side, Second Row?

Hope you all are having a great day.

I'm driving myself crazy looking for information on this -- but how does one remove the "40" side of the second row? Or is even removable?

I know I'll probably have to have the SRS light reset, but this would do wonders for accessibility.

Anyone done this? If so, any pictures?

Thank you!

It flips/folds for access to the third row. But do you mean you want to permanently remove it? I didn't look, but I would imagine there are just a few bolts that hold it down to the floor.

The middle row of seats is a single unit.

No problem. Just need a hacksaw, then!

Nate, what was your plan?

Dennis, thank you. I'm just looking for a way to improve third row access.

If it's going to leave a bunch of holes and brackets exposed, I might just leave the "40" side flipped down, and the kids can clamber over the back of the seat. And if I need an extra seat, just flip it back up.

I'll probably get the "seat not locked" warning, but I think that's just a "white" FYI, not a "red" STOP warning, right?

You know, rather than staring at the “seat not locked” warning, it’s easy to turn the 40% section down on demand. It is but a turn of the hand pulling the lever to detent 1.

You do know that it rotates full forward, allowing unimpeded access to the third row, right - by pulling the rear red handle?

also cool when you pull that lever is, that; the front passenger seat moves forward to accommodate the additional space needs for a comfortable entry.

Hi Nate. You did see my note about the seat "flip/folding", right? The seatback folds down to make a flat floor, but then you can flip the whoel thing forward for easy 3rd row access. I'm sure there is info in the manual about it... maybe even pics! And, no, you won't get any warnings - whether it is folded or flipped.

Just noticed your signature shows you have a E class, are you asking about the seats in your E class or the GL ?
Here is a you tube video I found showing partly how the seat folds forward to gain easy access to the third row of seats.

So pleased to help out, did you mean at the 1.06 minute mark ?
these forums, and the Jaguar ones, are brilliant to share information and help fellow owners.
Thanks so much for the compliment, I have always loved cars and after many years I am able to indulge myself a bit.
The GL is an amazing vehicle, I have spent quite a bit on it having the air suspension done, all the brake lines, discs and pads all round etc.
It had done 111000 miles now and is so comfortable and a great all rounder, my grand children love the third row seats haha.
Enjoy yours !!

Max, I guess since you and I didn't get a thank you for taking the time to explain (in words) how to gain easy access to the third row, multiple times, we now know that Nate still prefers pop-up picture books.
