ABS, ESP, CK engine came on can’t shift

My 2011 GL550 with 215K miles dash lite up like Christmas tree today with ABS, ESP, check engine, lane change assist warning signs, and I can’t shift out of PARK. Engine did start but couldn’t shift. Anyone know what is going on? TIA

John

You might have a bad wheel speed sensor.

Yes, one that has totally failed can cause these symptoms. Do yourself a favor and only use the MB OEM sensors.

Mine did the same thing with a wheel speed sensor. And do yourself a favor, replace all of them. My first went out at 116k, 2nd at 117k and 3rd at 120k.

The speed sensors are an easy DIY. I echo the others who say go ahead and proactively change all of the wheel speed sensors. MB parts are very consistent and that's not always a good thing. If one fails, they will all most likely fail.

And for some reason, they will usually fail in short order after a battery rundown/ low voltage event.

I used buymercedespartsnow.com to order the sensors. They made sure that parts were compatible with VIN and gave me a good price.

My wheel speed sensor failed at 110k miles, and I too had the same exact dash lights as OP.

Like others have stated, replace them all.

Thank you all for the reply and suggestion. I will order speed sensors and try that first.

I forgot to mentioned beside the errors listed, I also got TPMS and lane change assist failures which were all in working order before this shenanigan begin. I just received the ABS wheel sensors from Pelican Parts. Is there a DIY video on this site for this job? TIA

Easy job,

Charge your battery as well, if you have not. Just in case. I had sensor failure after the battery voltage dropped too low.
