Question GL 320 CDI 2007

Hi,

My car has recently increased the Idle RPM from 650 RPM to 950 RPM. I noticed it dropped down to 650 RPM when I switched off the air condition. I have tried this several times and the results is the same. When I am running the heating system the RPM stays low at 650 RPM.

The cooling when running the air condition is working fine.

Regards
Per Jarle

Now just one GL450 with EORP.
It’s supposed to increase the idle speed when ac is on - I just don’t know by how much.

Yup - that's normal - the amount you've noticed seems to roughly jive with what I've noticed. Heat will do it, too - but you'll need the AC button on... which I believe means "recirc" when in heat mode?... something like that, anyways.

Thank you. I have had the car for over ten years so it is strange that I noticed this change now. However it might just be that I have overseen this, but I will just pay attention to it and look for trends.
I had the car for a B service in March and nothing was mentioned about this there, still I find it difficult to understand that there are no RPM standard for the AC running other than it will increase.

I've had my car for about 6 years and I think I just noticed this about a year or two ago...

Ok, and the AC is still running but at a higher RPM? And what RPM is it running idle at with the AC running?

Since when do you need AC in Norway?
