My 2010 GL550 has been an amazing SUV and I unfortunately have to sell it because I bought a (new to me) 2015 GL63.
One thing the GL550 x164 lacks is a decent sound system. Since I purchased it, I have had fun dialing in a pretty incredible audiophile sound system.
Here is the front stage… a 3-way application with the following speakers:
Tweeters: Scanspeak Illuminator D3004
Midrange: CDT Unity 8.0
Woofers: Scanspeak Revelator 18w
The tweeters are surface mounted to the A-pillar and have fantastic imaging where they are located.
The Unity 8.0 speakers are in pods molded into the stock sail pillars. These are absolutely fantastic.
The woofers fit behind the door panels nice.y with some added sound dampening.
I ordered a new set of sail pillars and a pillars to go back to stock and will be removing this set over the weekend.
May consider selling these on this forum before I head to eBay.
