Help! Rear Diff ratio GL320
Seems I need a new rear diff, and have been told that all the GL models are the same.
But I also saw where the diesels are 3.45 ratio and the gas are 3.70 ratio.
Anyone have the straight scoop???

Other than jacking it up and turning a wheel and counting shaft revolutions (does that work with a AWD car?), maybe one of those VIN check websites would tell you. Search for that - you enter your VIN and it tells you all of the original standard features and options.

MB Parts houses and Car-Part.com (Used parts search engine) show al GL and R the same.
Several places on the web show the different final drive ratios
I guess I can lift it and check, but I would also need to check the other model that I don't have access to.

Go in to the page and pick the 320 vs. the 450

I figured that much, just don't know why the parts places are confused,. other than the fact that MB seems to have decided to use one part number.
It seems the R diff is the same. Do any of the R models use the 3.45 ratio?
Just trying to find a decent used Diff of the right ratio.

Shop called, mechanic was happily surprised that the noise was a wheel bearing and not the diff.
Cut my anticipated bill in 1/2

What is really annoying is I am just starting the build of a shop with a lift, so I will no longer be at the mercy of mechanics.
BUT I need the truck for a few trips and to carry material to the shop before it is ready to work in.
