Resolved: Bluetooth problem when connected to MB Bluetooth and MMI BT receiver
However I ran into a problem that if both Bluetooth devices are connected to my Samsung Note 20 ultra, the incoming phone audio would get muted for a few seconds once in a while. Very annoying.
This only happens when the phone is connected to both Mercedes comand and after market BT on MMI.
I tried INVERY and Hain brand BT MMI receivers. Both with the same issue. Actually I think it's the phone problem. I also tried all phone settings and developer modes with no luck.
I wanted to use the Mercedes BT for phone as it has much better sound than a BT car kit.
So, I took matters to my hand after a month of frustration, and reading forums.
Using Tasker ( Android App), I created a profile that would detect if I'm in a phone call, and disconnect the after market music BT connection. Once the call finishes, it would reconnect it.
Two profiles in Tasker, one to detect a call and disconnect .
Other to reconnect BT after call ends.
I will try to attach the Tasker files to this post.

Issues are:
After a reboot, I need to start Tasker. It doesn't start automatically.
It works for phone calls, but call connection for MS teams, didn't trigger the Tasker scripts.
Also, if the call is to long the Bluetooth receiver shuts off.
Anyhow, we don't take long rides anymore, but would be interested in Bluetooth Music streaming. All the options I saw were almost a 100 bucks. What can I get for like 20 bucks or so to try that works well with iPhones? I too was worried about the switching between Mercedes Bluetooth and Bluetooth Audio.

We are not an Apple household so I don't have experience with Apple products and BT streaming in the GL. That said, I use this to stream via BT in our 2010
Note that it connects directly in the MMI port in the glove box rather than use the MB MMI cable. No issues with phone calls or streaming cutting in/out. If I am streaming and get a call, I can answer the call, the podcast or music pauses, after I hang up it will resume. The downside is that you can't use the steering wheel buttons to navigate the content from your phone, but that's not a problem for me. I can set up podcast and music playlists which works for me. The volume buttons on the wheel work as they should.
The Bovvee product (and there is also another one the name which I can't recall now) apparently allows you to navigate content on Apple using the steering wheel buttons, but I have no experience with it and like I said earlier, we are not an Apple household.
Edit: This is more like what I am using. I seemed to have pasted the wrong link earlier.
