2010 GL450 door switch not working, courtesy light doesn’t come on.

So the driver door switch on my 2010 GL450 is not working. Not the window and lock switch, but the internal door switch that activates the courtesy lights on the door itself and the dome light when the door is opened. The car thinks my door is always closed. The other 3 doors will turn on all of the courtesy lights but not the driver side door. Anyone have this happen? I have a feeling the door switch is built into the door latch assembly along with the door lock actuator which is a nightmare to replace. I replaced the passenger side myself a few years ago because the door lock portion failed and the door wouldn’t lock at all and it was no small task. There is a metal shield inside that takes very special rivets. I no longer have that tool or those rivets. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Based on your pas history, I think you’re looking at doing that again.
i don’t know what else to tell ya.

that being said, I’ve had three of these and not ever had this Problem occurred.

what other electrical issues do you have going on?

the only issue I have is when I open my door after a drive it doesn’t unlock the rest of the doors automatically. This is a result of the same failed door switch I’m guessing. No other issues at all. The biggest problem with replacing the latch assembly is there is a metal shield that the latch and window reg mount onto behind the door panel which is riveted to the door. It doesn’t take standard rivets. Other than that it’s just a lot of disassembly to get to the latch.
