TPMS for extra wheels?

I want to have two sets of wheels and tires, one for summer and one for winter. Looking for suggestions on two issues:
-suggestions for managing TPMS. Cloning sensors on extra wheels? Difficulties with relearning? OEM vs retail sensors on extra wheels?
-planning on winter tires but could be swayed to all season if there has been good experience. Your thoughts?

Thanks!

Shouldn’t really be any difficulties in adapting new sensors, regardless of what wheel they’re on… As long as the system senses the sensor for 30 minutes continuously (or lack there of) it’ll either display all is well or give you the tire warning symbol. That’s pretty much all the system does and any one of the four sensors being absent will trigger it, so remove your four summer tires and put your winter tires out for a drive. It should be pretty auto.

Correct. I don't know if it varies by year, but for my 2007 it is a "dumb" system, as described.

I run two sets of wheels, when I got the second set , I bought them from a friend, they came with tyres and sensors already fitted. Put them on and the vehicle just recognised them and all was good. When I swap summer to winter etc the car just senses the replacement sensors with no problems.

I will confirm that my 2012 automatically senses the new sensors. I have All Season and Winter wheels. I purchased OEM sensors from eBay for the winter wheels/tires and it automatically senses whichever is on the vehicle.

Along those lines, I only used the winter wheels/tires only 1 season. They've been stored for at least 5-years. Anyone interested?

Thanks for the information, 91stealthes. Yes, I'm interested. What size wheels and tires do you have?

Thanks a lot for the information, seems no programming is needed, just need to replace the sensors.

Sorry. The winter wheels are genuine 18" Mercedes. I don't remember the size of the Blizzaks. I plan to work on cleaning up the garage next week and will grab some photos.

Information:

Not all tpms sensors require programming ... even when first installed. Dont let your "mechanic" tell you otherwise

See, for example these for 2007 GL
