Deactivate SOS in 2007 GL450

We all know the MB, in support of their customers, has eliminated the SOS service due to the elimination of 3G cellular (analog) service in the US. And, of course, provided no path to an upgrade. However, if you accidentally punch the SOS button (as I inadvertently did) the car tries to make the call anyway; disables the speakers for music, radio, cell, etc; makes telephone ringing sounds and provides no means of cancelling the attempt. After numerous lengthy attempts the SOS finally admits it couldn't make a connection and stops trying. Anybody know a way to either eliminate the dang SOS feature or upgrade to something that works?

Get your hands on a bidirectional tool like Autel MP808 (and above) or STAR, and you might find SOS in the Variant Coding for one of the modules, in this case probably the Front SAM.

Unfortunately, no, I have tried developer mode. There’s no way of coding it out.

Easy: If memory serves, it's a simple electrical switch. Just pop off the trim piece and disconnect one of the leads. Wrap the lead(s) seperately in electrical tape and you should be good to go.
