Problem with excessive oil consumption

Hello forumers,

Im having problem with excessive oil consumption.
I Have GL320 07' which has egr, dpf and swirl off but has cat.
No smoke at idle or during normal acceleration only at high rpm but it sees like blue and black smoke. Car is driven 416k km. If oil rings are stuck what are symptoms ?
Oil cap isn't dancing if loose. Replaced pcv system, but still eat's oil. On first startup in the morning at idle it throws blue smoke after few seconds after startup until i drive out from yard then it stops until the end of the day.
If my laungage/grammar is bad then im sorry 🙂

This place is a joke.
The om642 is a garbage engine and your GL is old and not worth much money. Keep driving it until it stops, pull off the license plate and walk away.

Now just one GL450 with EORP.

He's right you know. At 416k km this engine is living on borrowed time. Now, in any turbocharged car there is also the possibility of a turbo seal going, which burns oil constantly. Or, the turbo pressurizing the crankcase through the pcv system - if the OM642 has a check valve to prevent this condition you should check the function of it. It only blows one way.
Otherwise, everytime you build boost you pressurize the crankcase and blow oil into the intake for consumption.

But how to know if piston rings are stuck ? I don't have any smoke at idle or at normal acceleration.I have taken crankcase line off from Y intake and there isnt coming any oil at 2000rpm.

If piston rings are stuck then it would split oil from crankcase vent ?

Car isnt smoking at all, only on hard accelereation at high rpm.

Yesterday i added 500ml oil because warning light went on and after 120km driving again light is on. Could be external leaking ?

Have you put a large piece of cardboard under the vehicle and checked it after 24 hrs??

1/2 of a liter is a lot for only driving 120kms

(I love my wifes GL, the diesel is great, so much power)

Why are you so stuck on the rings?
What else happens at high rpm and high throttle? The turbo makes boost. That is usually the culprit for oil consumption in a turbo charged vehicle but what I’m reading is that you have eliminated that the turbo is pressurizing the crank case.

I was hoping you would have found the easy solution such as a one euro check valve. Now you need to do a leak down check. Now you also need to prepare yourself for the hard part: don’t waste any money rebuilding this engine. Just walk away.
