GL-320 Rear SAM - what is code 848
Hi all,
I have a 2007 GL320-CDI (UK spec) that has a problem with the rear SAM (corrosion caused by water intrusion). I've been trying to get a replacement part from Mercedes for the last couple of months, but have been getting the runaround from them saying that the part is currently on backorder from Germany. So, I've started looking to see if I can get a secondhand or non-OEM part and have seen a number of places selling them, but in their descriptions, while it lists the model as compatible, they all say "Not for cars with (Code 848)". I can't find anywhere that says what Code 848 is and how to tell if my car has it.

According to the PDF the code is for "848 from 01.10.1994 ELEC. SIDE WINDOWS" and the VIN check says my car doesn't have that option. I assume that must mean the very rear vent windows and not the windows in the first and second rows as they are electric as standard.

so that's a pretty good matching part. You dont have rear electric windows 
Note the real fix is to disable the water works ahead of replacement module being installed.
Same watering feature is available up front with windshield surround seal and roof sims in charge of weting front SAM module.
