Airmatic raise function issue

Hello all
I recently bought a foxwell NT710 assuming it will be handy since I own a 2007 GL and a 23 G63.

The airmatic raise function on the GL is acting up. By the looks of vehicle all looks to be ok.
However when I hit the raise button, the light keeps blinking and after a couple of minutes the message says " compressor cooling down...." there is no change in height.
I checked the pressure on each start and they all are soing between 80-90 PSI. IS it my compressor ?

Need some help on how to identify raise issue and how to change any of these level settings if they are off.

here is the picture of level

I have the same scanner, works pretty good for the price.

can you at least hear the compressor run when you try to raise it? It’s an obvious sound when running)

I hit the suspension raise button and while it blinked I tried to hear the compressor but I don’t think it turned on.
is there any fuse that I could check before I get a new compressor?

There is a relay and fuse under the hood in that little panel near the firewall. Can't remember off hand which one.

It’s your compressor on its way out.
Check all the output connections for any leaks.

ensure that the two 40a blade fuses pull out cleanly and haven’t welded themselves to the fuse box

9/10 that warning means it’s working too hard to pressurize the central reservoir.

if you let this go on the fuses will weld themselves to the fuse box and you’ll need to find a new one or known good replacement.

But you will need a new compressor.

If you get a new compressor, just grab one from Amazon, they are cheap and last long enough. I've had one running with zero issues, so far, for over 5 years.

I checked fuses and relays all good. It appears compressor does run as soon car starts and it keeps running . My. Entrap reservoir is showing 48 psi in scanner and all for airbags are at over 80 psi. If compressor was doing anything I would expect reservoir pressure to go up.. looks like compressor is done for. What Amazon compressor did you use ?

There are cheaper ones on Amazon, but this one worked for me.

Can you manually raise the bags? Might be valve block if you can hear the compressor

Manually pressing the height button keeps blinking and message he’s from raising to compressor cooling down after 2 minutes . The Foxwell nt710 has valve check test that seems to show valves are ok.

I meant can you raise each bag manually using the NT710. There is an option to manually inflate or deflate each bag one at a time.

I saw this option but was a little worried about messing something up. In above case if I was to test manually deflating left front what value could i try in place of -28 ? Will it go back to level once I come out of the test menu ?

48 and 60 psi is a failed compressor.

It’s supposed to make 16 bar within 10 seconds of starting, multiply that by about 14.78 and you’ll see that 48 psi basically is residual pressure. Hey Siri what’s 16×15 hey Siri what is 16×15

So about 240 psi is what you should be looking for in the central reservoir.

That is my thought as well. A reservoir should be more pressure than struts otherwise how it would compensate. Thanks for clarifying

I have pumps from RMT in two of my cars now - cant say I have been unhappy. I did have one of their solenoid blocks fail (from new) but they simply warrantied it with out any issues.

only if you set the system to do a “Move towards calibrated level Manual” that will “save” any setting you do. You can manually inflate or deflate all you want without anything getting saved as a new setting.

Thanks for the link. Ended up with same compressor and also a valve block from these guys. I had an ear to ear grin driving back home. Drives exactly like when I bought it new in 2007 I own a 23 g63 but the way this gl drives is just different. I am not giving up on this dude unless I can no longer figure out the issues or they become insanely expensive to address.

That's awesome to hear!! That's really cool you got it brand new back in 07... she must have a special spot in your heart. lol

This GL is my first Benz, got it almost 9 yrs ago (family hauler and tow rig for trailer). Its been one of my best vehicles maintenance wise and overall quality, almost 290,000 kms (180,200 miles) on it. I'm very impressed, I've owned all forms of domestic (Ford/Dodge/GM etc) and the big three German manufactures (VAG, BMW, MB). And so far Benz wins in overall build quality and durability. (for example the paint still looks like day one, so shiny still) But Audi wins hands down for interiors out of all I've owned. But overall, I'm going to keep this GL running as long as I can find parts for it. (Wife won't let me get rid of it, she loves it)

I bought the wife a 2012 model three years ago with 180,000 miles on it. After one of the air bags on rear went out I converted it to struts/spring and now at 250,000 miles it is a really good, reliable ride. I don't tow with it, I use the 04 Ram 2500 with the Cummins in it for that.

Crazy to think the 6 l Cummings made around 440 lb of torque, my 3.2 l makes 400, only 40ft lb less for almost half the size.
