I ordered my GL550 from LCM's as well. Have you dealt with them before? Being a Lexus buyer for years, I've only dealt with Bobby Rahal in Mechanisburg and their customer service is excellent. I hope LCM's is just as good.

Thanks. Your 550 is gorgeous in Artic White. I really like the AMG appearance upgrades including the wheels and tires. I can't wait to see mine (also Artic White). This is as close to a GL 63 that I will likely get.

Does your 550 ride a bit lower than your brothers 450?

you know i thought the 550 rides a little low as well, but honestly i didn't pay that much attention.. personally i feel that it lowers some when you activate airmatic sport- that you can feel/see when you engage it.. and i think with airmatic comfort its about the same height-
and yes the amg sport package is as close as it gets to the 63.. but to wait indefinitely, pay around 20-30K more, and not be able to get beige/almond dash for me were the three reasons i decided not to pursue it for now..

 

Not that it matters now but is the GL 63 only available with a black interior? I thought it could be ordered with any of the Designo colors?

Also, is there anything you would change about your 550 if you could? Are there any options you would add or remove?

 

yup it can be ordered with any designo color for the seats.. and mid door panel
the main dash and door panels on pretty much any amg i have seen, especially the gl63 do not have beige dash or door panels.. they are all black regardless of designo seat color.
now recently on the main amg site it shows one pic of the gl63 with beige dash but everything else is black.

 

I see what you mean. The dash is black on all but the dark brown designo interior. Must be a German thing. :-)

 

yup-- but the dark brown designo or auburn interior also has black dash and door panels for any GL

 

The top of the dash is brown leather when selecting the brown interior. I attached examples of the brown, porcelain, and black interiors.

 

thats true top dash with dark brown is brown- but everything else black a sorry i didnt clarify myself earlier-- this time around i didnt want a dark interior at all. The only way to get beige was to get beige leather- i wouldve loved tan leather, not as dark not as light- but its not offered on the gl- however it is offered on other models..

 

I agree and prefer the Almond Beige as well. The first GL450 I looked at had that interior and my and I liked it immediately. We also looked at a 450 with a black interior and while it looks good also, we just prefer a lighter interior.
