I think this is a thread about how much we paid for our cars - not about dealer's profit on customers. Each business needs profit to survive, there is nothing wrong with that. If you like a price - you buy it, if not - you skip it for a better time or cheaper product.

2013 GL350. BMW 335. 2014R1200RTW
Ordered a GL350 which ran up to 75K and got 4% off but kind of hard to evaluate strictly on that because they gave me a great trade in value....look forward to hooking up the new (for GL anyway) Bluetec to our Airstream and hitting the road. Glad I waited for the x166, test drive in a 450 was phenomenal.

Your topic when you quote price relative to invoice and fleet discounts. I am certainly not insinuating you did not get a good deal. As a retired dealer, I fully understand that profit is a necessity. I also know what the dealer makes and what the consumer pays are inseparable.

My dealer is offering me a lousy deal on the trade in. Hence, I will keep driving the old one. This is what they offered me on my GL350 that I purchased in Sept 2011 - original sticker was $70K:

I would try a different dealer, or carmax, or autotrader...

I'm not in a rush. I'll wait a year or two until the new inventory builds and the dealers are offering deals.

2013 GL450
So far I haven't been offered better than MSRP minus 3% on a GL450 with several options (no vehicles with my specs available - must be ordered). Three separate dealers all made similar offers.

This car's popularity is killing my wallet!

Oh well, I know I'll still be happy on delivery day (the dealer probably knows this too).

Good choice unless you absolutely have to have it now. From my experience, end of August is the best time to buy a Mercedes.
Also, I recommend taking your car to Carmax. They'll give you an appraisal for your car that's good for 7 days. 99% of the time, the dealers can't beat Carmax's offer.
A bit of advice on negotiations... never tell them you have a trade-in until you have settled a final price for your purchase. My .02.

your mom
When I was in the market to buy GL in Jan-Feb 2012.. I knew the New GL was coming but on the other I HAD TO HAVE a big 7 seater right away (Baby on the way + family).

I was offered 16k off the 75k MSRP on a GL450 and instead I bought a 09 CPO for 40k. If I had bought a 12, I would have taken a much much MASSIVE depreciation hit.

Anyone get quoted money factors recently on the 350 for a lease? Dealer I am working with is saying .0021 but reading elsewhere on line .0016. On the fence between buying and leasing...

Standard is 0016. Your dealer is trying to make some extra cash

That's the feeling I am getting. So I am basically going to reject the lease deal and finance it. Not sure how to really make him give me .0016?

Car should be here this week and have reasonable 3rd party financing set up already. The dealer really doesn't want to give me any information it seems until I am actually there getting the car? Still waiting on the amount of my refund on the extended warranty on the trade, which I submitted for cancellation in November, even though I am still in the new car warranty period...
