GL cornering lights not working

Cornering light on an EU type model
One thing I've noticed about the cornering light, (I'm talking about the small seperate LED one that lights up when you reach a junction and turn right or left into it, not the one that used the main Bi-xenon headlight and follows the curve of the road as you steer on a twisty road) they won't light up when you just start up the car and turn the steering wheel at standstill, even if you put the transmission into D. It seems that you first have to drive forwards a bit then when you turn the steering wheel they will activate and shine down the direction you are turning.
For further clarification, I've attached a picture of the cornering light I am talking about.
This system should be the same on the new GL as well.

oh, I was thinking your vehicle wasn't turning the headlights, I see what you are asking now based upon GMW's response.
That's consistent with my 2007 where it turned on the fog lamp on that corner. You had to be moving for it to come one.

Yep.... I had that on the 07 as well BUTT.... I thought they discontinued the cornering light via fog light activation in either 2010 or 11? MY 2011 has the "lighting package" with the led drl's and no fog lights. Maybe somebody can clarify.

Speed sensitve in three scenarios see manual page 127 - Neighborhood 1 - which is under 25 mph and use turn signal or with minor steering off-angle Neighborhood 2 - 25-45 with more significant steering off-angle. Highway - over 45 mph offline unless held over for max 3 minutes from prior trip from Neighborhood 1 or 2.
