21 inch rims, 10 inches wide or 11.6 inches?

21 inch rims, 10 inches wide or 11.6 inches?
Does anyone know the reason as to why Mercedes advertises the rims as 21x10 inches but when converting mm to inches the actual size turns out to be 11.6?
Going by what the sidewall says:
295mm X 0.039370= 11.6 (approximately)
I dont think they are 11.6 inches wide because the X5, X6 20' inch rims/tires are allot wider( 11 or 11.5 inches) than the rims/tires on the GL

Tire sizes are generally not an exact match for widths of wheels. There's some amount of leeway in the width of tires that you can use on each rim (and tires are designed for this). Those 21 inch wheels are still 10 inches wide.
