MB's own documents on pricing for the ELW are stated as "MSRP"..... that to me means a dealer MAY charge less if they desire to do so. When I take delivery of my new GL450 next month (hopefully) i plan on telling the financial person that i will be buying the ELW from the first dealer willing to knock off $500..... and there are dealers that will do that....all you need to do is have your vin, look up various dealers online, try to find who their financial person is.....send them an email stating what it is that you want and are willing to pay and ask them if they are interested....they will want the vin # immediately and you want to be sure they are selling you the MB extended warranty NOT a third party.......you have 30 days from the "in-service date" of your new MB to make that purchase with no penalty.

I just bought a 7/125 from him today at a very large discount from MSRP. He couldn't have been nicer, and the transaction couldn't have been easier. It took 1 email and a 2 minute phone conversation.

There is some unintentional confusion here about "extended limited warranty" or ELW.
There are two Mercedes "ELW" programs - extending the original MB new car warranty, let's call that NCELW - and the other program is extending the Mercedes Certified Pre-Owned warranty - let's call that CPOELW.
The dealer "margin" on CPOELW is higher than the dealer margin on NCELW.
If you are going to buy NCELW as a separate expense - then any MB dealer can sell you the NCELW - but ONLY the originating dealer at time of purchase can add the NCELW into the buyer's acquisition cost of the vehicle for finance purposes.
I say this so someone looking at NCELW doesn't misread another thread about discount on CPOELW, and mix the two issues.
Keep the beat !

GL350 Extended Warranty
Owners: just wanted to say how painless and smooth the experience was buying my EW from Travis Eastman yesterday. Great price both on the GL and getting an after market EW on my 2012 997.2 Turbo.

2007 GL 450 (lease returned, like new, cried when we left it at the dealer), 2011 GL350 BlueTec
Thanks for all the great info on MB Extended Warranties.
I have a 2011 GL350BTC which I love after having leased a 2007 GL450 for four years with no problems. The GL350 has 45k so I thought I might take the truck to the dealer and put a couple of things on the record before my warranty expires. Chief complaints were:
- back-up camera intermittently malfunctions
- engine runs rougher than my friend's GL350, same year
- steering wheel not adjusting correctly
- paint bubbles which may be chips
Whoa!
The dealer, under warranty, with no additional prompting:
- replaced all engine mounts (said they were cracked)
- replaced the steering column
- replaced the back-up camera
This would have been thousands in another 5k miles.
Says paint is not bubbled, but chips. My body guy says the opposite. Another body guy I consulted says it's a chip. Will deal with that later.
Now, with all the electronics and these replacements on such a young car, I'm very motivated to get an ELW before my warranty runs out. I want to keep the car another three and one-half to four years for a total of six to seven years. If I sell it, I think it's attractive to a buyer to have a few miles and another year of warranty on the car.
Curiously, shortly after, MB Research & Technology sent me a letter asking if I'd be interested in lending our car for emissions testing. They'll keep our car for two to three weeks, give us a loaner, and $500. Anyone ever heard of this?

More tech means higher chances of things breaking down no matter the manufacturer
My 08 battery died twice during my 4 year ownership (battery are relatively cheap so not a big deal and it was under warranty), after the 6+ year mark the cost of repair for these vehicles will come close to or outdo the resale price ( for major repairs) so better to sell it to someone who in turn ships it off somewhere.
you can pick up a 08 GL550 for less than you would pay for a base price civic

2007 GL 450 (lease returned, like new, cried when we left it at the dealer), 2011 GL350 BlueTec
As for the MB Technology Center, I called MBUSA and it is legit. They'll take the car away on a flatbed, put 50-60 miles on it, give us a loaner and $500. Apparently it's a lottery. They say it's for emissions testing.
EXT warranty 2010GL350BT
Anyone buy the extended on the 2013 GL450 or similar? I am looking at extended to "6 years or 75K" or "7 years or 100k." I expect this topic has come up before, but I am specifically interested in the MB warranty on the 2013 X166. I buy my cars (no leasing) and I do keep them. I expect with all of this technology and advanced features, it might be a good idea. I just need to decide if I will have it for 6 or 7 years at this point. I know I will not want to trade it prior to that point.
Hope that helps, Cheers

Fair price, Easy transaction.
Your classic win-win situation.
Let's not mess this up by over-haggling. Great guy, significant savings. If he quotes you, why haggle it down with your local dealer? He's providing a great service.
Can't recommend more highly in terms of ease of transaction, responsiveness. Whole transaction took 15 minutes of my time.
Pls email him VIN and Exact Mileage to ease the transaction.

I bought a 2013 GL550 with 26,000 miles in November 2014.
I paid $3,750 + taxes for a 7 year (3 year extended) up to 100,000 miles. The 75,000 mile one was closer to around $3,000 + taxes.
This is a factory MB extended warranty and would not have purchased the car without it!
