Left Mirror Signal Failed -- All Fixed
No big deal, but I just wanted to point out that this was a 10/10 service experience. In a vehicle with so much STUFF, I don't expect perfection as you need to be realistic (especially in its first year as a new version).
Driver's side mirror turn signal became intermittent. I got a message on the instrument cluster. The message was very clear on what was wrong. Also, the click-click sound changed to that fast clicking. The turn signal in the rear and front worked as designed.
Dealer (MB of Natick, MA) gave me a fine new GLK loaner. Determined the GL needed a new mirror. Something to do with it all being one big part. I kept the loaner overnight and the next day at noon the car was all ready to go. I read the repair order and they were quite thorough. My GL450 has 750 miles on it. Now, I have a mirror with 750 miles less on it. LUCKY ME!
The GLK is a nice vehicle, but it made me appreciate the GL even more. It is kind of like comparing a really nice vehicle (GLK) with an exceptional one (GL). Size does matter.

Oh yeah - now lets quibble with the very satisfied owners out there - there is absolutely no indication we are headed to a flu like epidemic of "1st year problems" - au contraire, smooth sailing !

Sounds like you found a great dealership and service staff. The performance of the service staff has a huge difference I feel on satisfaction despite the actual technical issue.

With all do respect to all...... the mirror problem could happen to any of us, new GL or not. The mirrors are the same as those used last year on the GL and ML. They are not "new tech".....that being said, if they do have the new surround cameras in them, then technically they could be considered "new."
