Hi more news that's great, my dealer (small one in England, UK), doesn't seem to be able to find any details is there such a thing as a TSB number and would you be allowed to post it on here, or private mail me with it?

Thanks again!

2014 GL350BT
Spent a week driving from Miami to New Orleans and back, so had a chance to get up close and personal with the GL350.

I noted that I would get the collision alarm when passing someone that would slow down in the left turn lane while I was passing them at somewhat close distance and relatively high rate of speed.

A few times I got it when there was nothing visible, but driving through intersections.

Sometimes it would pick up a signal lamp post or defense rail.

It's not that frequent but the first few times really gets your attention.

I have had it happen maybe 3 or 4 times in 20K….usually when passing under an overpass and in bright sun with the overpass casting a dark shadow……. yes it does get your attention…..and overall I will accept a few false situations because I suspect it will react promptly in a REAL situation and that just may be a life saver. None of these "driver assist systems" will be 100% perfect or be a perfect substitute for "driver attention and input"
Now if it were bothering me everyday or every 100 miles…..then, I would think the system needs to be "recalibrated"….but I would rather have it err on the side of being too sensitive than not sensitive enough. Just my opinion…….

Well, my dealer has now found all the tech info he needs on the MB systems and has ordered the new parts as per the advice of MstrBenzTech - what a nice guy.

I get false indications all the time and pretty much always when I drive back home at one point where a wall comes in quickly from the left. I'm hoping post fix I'll be able to determine that things have improved.

Will report back, but thanks again to all those in the thread with information that gave me the confidence to push hard at the dealer. This is my first MB and an AMG one at that, bit surprised they don't have better service given how much these things cost, but I'm not the kind of guy to take no for an answer!

Good news that a remedy is in the works. There is one spot when I go to my 85 year old mother's place where it goes off consistently. It's an overpass with something yet to be determined that causes it to trigger. If I did that trip every day, instead of 3-4 times per year I would need a remedy.

OK quick update, I'v been told the parts are on back order with Germany so this fix isn't going to happen soon.

Thus I've rung MB mission control and explained my dissatisfaction that as this has been a known fault for some time I can't understand why I was ever given the car in the first place, at least without warning?

As the car looses about $1000 a month, I've told them I'll take that in cash until they fix the car, or a free service!

Wish me luck.

I've noticed that I get random 2 beeps for no apparent reason. The dash lights and control display don't show anything. It doesn't happen at the same location. There isn't a car slow or stopped in front of me. The last time I noticed the trip odometer was at 10 miles from start when it went off. Do you know what that is?

Also, when we're driving home on a regular 2 hour trip from my daughter's basketball game, the car suggests that we should pull over and take a break. It's never happened when I drive and I just did a trip. What triggers that?

I have a MY14 GL550 with Distronic and Park.

"take a break" means you triggered the anti-drowsy Driver's Assist (not to be confused with Driver's Assistance) which is a Mercedes algorithm linked into time (from GPS) steering sensors, and other car sensors - that detects wavering steering and/or combined with inactivity to trigger a pre-nap-alert. Look in your cluster under assist programs - default is on and can be set off.

Dealer replaced front radar sensor and claims that this should stop the the false sensor beeps. We shall see if this works.

I test drove a 2014 SL63 yesterday and the right front Parktronic was going off every 20 seconds or so, whether there was anything within 50 feet of us or not. My 2014 GL550 thankfully hasn't seen this issue yet.

OK quick update, Mercedes have now found the part and it's being installed on the 30th December.

After making 2 phone calls to MB to complain I now have £250 about $350 off my next service cost!

It's good to talk and thanks for all the info on the forum.

Merry Christmas

Thanks Somersetjon - I am in the UK also and I would be grateful if you could post the part number when you have it fixed.

I get a few alerts and I simply can't work out whether it thinks I am falling asleep , speeding or about to crash.

Occasionally I get an ok alert when a car in front is turning off. Any tips on working out why it is alerting?

Having looked , I think it is possible to turn off the attention system within the engineering mode but I haven't paid £70k to have Roadrunner in the car with me.

It's a bit like taking a walk in the garden of Eden with a stone in your shoe - an annoyance that detracts from enjoying the effortlessness of the car.

Also would love to hear any updates from folks that had work done - is it fixed? Noticed it on my 2014 now a few times. Twice going under overpass, once when quickly zipping through an intersection.

Well I had the 'update' done on Monday, can't say i'm impressed, it beeped 4 times on the way back home - 23 miles, you can see the objects on the left hand side of the road that trigger it, typically they are large and metallic such as road signs - which sadly are everywhere - just off to the side of the road.

At the same time you can nearly brush parked cars on the left and nothing???

I don't really know where to go from here, I love the truck on the whole and am just starting to get to grips with it, but the beep is sooo annoying. Trouble is, the one time you are fiddling with radio and it beeps and saves you is the time you forgive it everything?

So did the update make it worse, or was it even worse than that before? Mine has about 3k miles on it and have only seen very rare false alerts, maybe 3 total so far. I would make them keep trying to fix it.

Basically I think it's about the same, I'd like to think it was better, but only more driving will determine whether it's better or worse. At my one known test site it still beeped which I was very disappointed with.

This type of thing can be annoying…..that being said, I would rather have the system "overly sensitive" than the opposite. Perfection is not going to happen ( at any price ) If this system saves me and my vehicle someday…..I will not regret the 10 or so false alarms I have had in the past 20k miles of driving. Again….if the system is activating on a regular and frequent basis there MUST be adjustments that could be made.

How can i turn it off on a gl450

Just yesterday I was driving down a straight highway in the middle lane and it went off for a few seconds - weird.

I will be interested as more GLs get on the road if others experience this.

Having that much fun with it?

I'm almost to that point. Goes off at certain intersections while traveling in one direction. Other direction on the return trip, nothing. In a couple of instances, it's within a block of 2 different Fire Stations.

E-Class Coupe 2013 E220
Hi all.

I have this exact problem on an E220 E-Class Coupe from late 2013.

It alarms when vehicle are to my left on the motorway and is extremely irritating and requires disabling at every startup of the car.

Can someone please send me the TSB service bulletin number for this please? Even if it's just for the GL-class, at least it would help my MB dealer resolve this for me quickly, before the warranty expires.

Thanks.

2016 GL450
Just wanted to provide a heads-up on this subject. The wife took our '16 GL 450 in for service last week due to a number of issues. She was told of a service bulletin regarding over-sensitivity of the collision avoidance system and re-programming of the system.

Sorry, I don't have any bulletin numbers.

Actually I am experiencing the same issue. Apparently the TSB is

Has anyone got their car fixed this issue?
