False Distance warning lamp/sound activation
but i hope you guys who are having it more frequently get the issue resolved- resetting the offset on the short sensors should do it..
Interestingly, they said the reason for issue was with Audis. Comfirmed with a wife and husband driving a MB and an Audi where it kept on going off

I am going in for 1st service on my GL next week, be interesting to see if they do an update for this on mine.
Does make you think though with all this tech - what if other cars with all their tech interfere with things like the auto cruise control or other safety features.

How can it be permanently disabled? Somebody please help!

What I mean by that is the red lamp that lights in the instrument display and warning sound seems to go off for no apparent reason.
We noticed it more when driving up somewhat curved road - but also just on flat straight roads - with absolutely nothing in front of us or even any vehicles on the road.
Anyway - annoying enough on a recent long trip to turn the function off - particularly when it wakes up sleeping passengers (kids)!
We took it in to get looked at by the service center and they could find nothing wrong with the sensors or the systems. They actually asked if we had been turning it off and on - to which I replied yes as it was happening so frequently that I hit off in the middle of a false alert to prove to myself it was that system causing the alarm.
I'd say it has only gone off one or two times appropriately - when I have been accelerating and then overtaking it has picked up the car in front of me.
Anyway - has anyone else experienced this? Somewhat annoying and makes the feature useless - particularly when I have to turn it off

I got one the other day for no apparent reason. It was at night in a city with no one in front of me or around me. I floored it to see the pickup and it freaked out and put the warning light on and beeped. Scared me half to death so I slowed down. Only got to 40 max. Then I wondered if it did it because I was speeding up. Who knows.
I'm contacting the dealer to discuss short range offsets as discussed above, does anyone have any more information about tech bulletin or anything?
I'm a lot more likely to have a crash trying to disable the thing after it's gone off for the first time each journey! How does that work, it's not my fault officer / judge / claims department, I was trying to turn off the annoying beep when I crashed!

Anyway to spur them on I told him I was fed up with cars being annoying and would have two attempts to resolve the issue and then I would reject the vehicle - it's the only way they'll learn.
