The GL is the number two Mercedes most driven by men according to Benz insider.

Interesting, if I did my quick statistics right, this poll has 15 out of 21 males which is 71%. I'm pretty sure 21 votes isn't statistically significant.
It's also interesting that the GL was more male dominant than the G. Maybe that is tipped by my wife's attraction to the G.

A bit of history..... the first "SUV" if that's what you want to call it was the Jeep Grand Wagoneer in the 70's....something really different than the station wagons of the day. The Ford Explorer and the Chevy (?) were next......all of 'em with some very capable "rough road" ability and the sales demographics for those early on vehicles were primarily male. The ladies moved from wagons to the minivans initiated by Chrysler.... It would seem to me that today's vans are still far more adaptable for hauling kids and their gear than the SUV??? I wonder what the young women see in the SUV today?

Since we're walking down memory lane, I bought one of the first 1984 Dodge Caravan's and was he first in my area to own the 1988 Dodge Grand Caravan (longer version). Very nice for hauling children.

So funny... The GL is such a 'Mom' type SUV

OK, I'm game. First post on this forum, been looking for someplace to chat about a new GL350BT I just ordered!
I'm 53, male, but like many this will be my wife's daily driver (soccer mom). But of course I'll be the one to fill it, clean it, and maintain it. In exchange she'll do the dishes but I have to cook.
I'll get to use if for road trips!

Male 35, purchased it for the both of us ....
then she kicked me out of the GL and I went and got a S550, but i miss that GL driving it everyday.
On the road, i see Infinity and cadillac trucks being driven by alot of women, but this GL is by far the sexiest Bitttch out there !!!!

Yes, but vans aren't sexy. My wife said no way would she ever drive a minivan if we got one. So we ended up with the GL450. Its definitely a lot more cramped than the vans but it drive a whole lot better.Originally Posted by blittle

Haha! I did the Van thing in the early 90's. Had a Ford Aerostar, Eddie Bauer edition. It was comfortable for sure, but drove like a boat.Originally Posted by SnowCub

Neither me nor my wife like vans. Wife likes to sit in a higher postion to see the road and things around her. I'm more into technology and performance, which includes efficiency, but dam well won't be caught in a Prius!

We both like luxury.
My wife said no way to a van, which I am happy about. Really wanted to consider the E350 wagon but wife doesn't like the idea of a wagon. We also sat in the last R350 any dealership had around here but she didn't like it enough to drive.
