GL 350 was built today... will arrive in 2 weeks.
Hello. First post here.
Our GL350 was built today and will arrive at dealer in 2 weeks. Not bad for a May 1 order date.
This will be our first MB product. Very excited about it.
Here's what we ordered:
Lunar Blue
Black MB-tex
Pkg 1
lighting pkg
Parktronic
Keyless Go
Running boards (dealer said we were lucky as they are on production restraint currently).
20" wheels
I've been reading this forum for a few weeks now, and wish I would have known about the special order options like black headliner and rear sunshades. Oh well. I'm sure we'll love this vehicle in spite of that. Only a 3 year lease so we'll be ordering another one in no time anyway.
This will be my wife's car to haul around our 3 young kids. Hence why the MB-tex was ordered.
It will be replacing a Cadilac Escalade ESV (suburban). That vehicle has been great (even has a few options that the GL doesn't have) but after 4+ years and 70k miles, it's starting to show its age.
Plus our oldest is now big enough to sit in the front passenger seat, so the 3rd row is only used when all 5 of us are in the car which is usually only on a trip or two during the weekend. So wifey is very excited to have a somewhat smaller vehicle that is easier to park. We won't miss the 12mpg average either.
Glad to be here.
Will post some pics when it arrives in a few weeks.

I could have deferred the build slot and waited a few weeks for a 2014 slot, but after looking at the model year changes, I saw no need to wait.

'14 GL450 delivered in Dec 2013. BMW '12 Z4 35i
Same here. I don't need temparture controlled cup holder and easy power entry to 3rd row which increased the price. And Fleet discount for '14 GL will be less and less discount for '14GL has been offered. So I pulled trigger for '13GL.

Congrats! We have a GL350 and it's a great family hauler. I know what you about the MBTex, we have it in both our cars and somedays I wish had gotten leather, then my 2 year old drags a crayon across the seats climbing into the car and I'm glad we don't.
The special order rear sunshades can be put on after the fact I read on here somewhere.

2014 GL350 ordered
Indeed the running boards seem to be on back order. I had a August 1st decade build for a 2014 GL350 but my SA said it would probably be pushed back until September if I wanted the running boards. I'm also getting Designo so that complicates things as it appears to be on short supply as well.

2013 GL450 (traded for 2015 Escalade), 2012 Corvette, 2014 Ford Fusion, Previous: 2007 GL450, 2011
The wait is definitely a long process.... This is my 3rd GL since 07 and each one has been worth the wait.....hang in there!

Picked up the GL350 today. I've only spent about 3 minutes in the car so far... and in the back seat too while delivery specialist was going over all the electro gizmos for wifey.
First impression is good. MB-Tex is very nice. I don't think my wife even knows its not leather. Wish we would have ordered the SPC order black headliner. The light colored one doesn't match the black interior very well.
Will post some pics after I get some seat time.

Fletcher Jones. They were the only dealer that had a customizable order coming in soon.
The local dealers couldn't get us one until this fall... and my wife didn't want to wait 6 months.

We just placed an order for 2014 GL 350 that is almost an identical build except our exterior color is palladium silver. What color is the headliner in your car? I was thinking of going with black headliner. Does anyone know how much if anything is the charge for y90 black headliner?
This is how is was on my 2013 GL, not sure if 14's will have the same $250 SPC charge or more.

Typical black interior gets the standard light grey headliner I believe. Y90 black headliner is special order. By itself the option is $0 but you incur a $250 MSRP charge for SPC special order charge. This is a flat fee and is applied no matter how many SPC items you add.

San Diego dealers barely get any 350's or 550's. Plus San Diego sales are kind of clueless when it comes to ordering.
Excited to see lunar blue pics. Love the color in the brochures.

Will try to post some pics soon.
I am really disappointed in the Comand infotainment system. Really disappointed. Light years behind the iDrive system in my BMW and the one in the 4 year old escalade the GL is replacing.
And what's the funky headrest design on the 2nd and 3rd rows?
I like the car, but for $72K sticker, I don't know if I love it. Kinda wish BMW would hurry up with the X7 to have more options in this category.
