Discount on the 550?
I've been looking to order 550 to replace our 08 LX570 for a couple of months now. I did some research on this forum to see what options are popular then built the car on the MB website multiple times. After I finalized my options I went to the dealer over the weekend hoping to get a decent deal and place my order. I wanted to get at least $3k off and have the 5 year maintenance service included in the price, so a total of close to 5k off. Bottom line they didn't budge an inch. They said they have no reason to discount the 550 especially as they can't keep them on the lot. At best, I may be able to get the 5 year maintenance included into the price but that's it. I live outside of DC in Northern VA and wondering if I just live in a region where discounts are tough to get or is this common across the US.
Can any of the new 550 owners chime in and share their experience/discount you were able to get.
Thanks much.

it's true that they are selling very well. My suggestion would be to locate a high volume dealer with a 100-200 mile radius. The higher the volume, the higher the allocation they get. If they get a large allocation, they would probably be willing to do the deal for you.
If you want to make the 3-4 hr drive up to NJ I bet my dealer would do it for you.

ck w/ MB pleasanton in CA.
when my friend was shopping for GL, most were discounting $3-5k due to low inventory, but pleasanton had a TON of them and she got $7k+ discount.

MSRP for me in early May.
i don't know if it's any better now, really depends on the inventory. at the time there were NONE to even test drive in San Diego in April 2013. so i contacted my dealer in OC and they had one coming in after a few weeks that fit the bill (90k or less) so i took it.
looks like they are still pretty limited on the 550 and esp the 350 Bluetecs

Thanks for the info wamochi. I see more 550 inventory lately in the DC area. 3-5 units at the larger dealers and 1 or 2 units at the smaller. For some reason 70% are black.
I am looking for a white 550 with rear seat DVD as a must have option. I may be able to squeeze in the 5 year maintenance into the price but probably not much more.
It's hard to swallow not getting even a small deal on a $100K car.

I was down there a few weeks ago and they didn't even budge from a $500 discount. They also told me the 550 and 350 were in even higher demand than the 450.

FYI.
I live in the NOVA area and emailed 10 local dealers wanting to order a 2014 GL350. I had three dealers start with $2000 off of MSRP and ended up with three dealers at $500 over invoice.
Let your fingers do the walking here.

also try autobytel...they have multiple MB dealers calling you w/ their "best" price, and you can still play them off one another...saves LOTS of time.

My wife ordered a GL550 in May also. Car was scheduled to be delivered yesterday but it did not arrive. Did the deal anyway and was only able to get $1,500 off of MSRP.

You can get a decent deal in NY or NJ. I am shopping for a GL550 and have been offered 4% off MSRP plus the fleet discount. You could probably get a slightly better if you find this car in stock.
