Curious what alternatives to Thule Roof Crossbars I should consider (I think the new tear drop aerodynamic ones look a bit odd and am leaning towards the old school black square ones if I can't find something I like better).

It does not look like Yakima has developed any good options for the X166 yet.

I went with Yakima Whispbar S55.

They don't have it as fitting the X166, but it works perfectly. I believe they only show it as being for the X164. I can assure you it fits and looks just great. Shop around as I ended up paying about 20% off of list.
