I ordered MY13 GL in May. It was in LA VPC since July 2nd.But no delivery. Rear glass in one of GLs in VPC was broken due to heat. They traced back and realized my GL got defected rear glass and sent the GL back to factory and replaced by new one (the dealer didn't inform me of this repair). Finally it arrived in the dealer today but the rear bumper got scratches. They are fixing now. I have no idea how much damage it has.

I feel like I have bad karma with this GL. They had to de-assemble rear door panel and get rid of old glue and apply new glue for new rear window. And it got scratches as well. I feel like I’m buying a used car. The reason I ordered Surround View(Parking Assistant Package) was to avoid any damage in bumper but now the GL got scratches in the rear bumper.

I have an appointment with the dealer tomorrow to pick up the 13GL. I’m thinking to cancel the order. But the deposit of $3000 is non-refundable. Can I get refund given the repairs? Or how much can I get extra discount due to the repairs? or I consider placing new order for MY14GL if I get the same discount as I got for the 13GL. It was $2500 off.

Sorry to hear that. I would cancel and get a MY14. You should talk to the dealer. Don't accept delivery if you don't feel comfortable. I cancelled my MY13 once for a MY14 and the dealer was fine. The GL is in demand and the dealer will sell to someone else.

I agree with Sam, you need to be happy with this new car. I would suggest telling the dealer you are starting to feel bad about that car in particular. You could tell them you are willing to wait to inspect first, before making a final decision, but you are thinking you want to cancel that one and order a MY2014.

See how you feel when you actually see the car and inspect it. I wouldn't hesitate if you don't feel right and want to walk away. Also are you sure the $3k deposit is really not refundable? Under the circumstances anyway I'd hope the dealer would refund or apply to another vehicle.

Thank you guys for the advices. Here is the update. The dealer called me saying the GL won't be available until Friday. It is in body shop ( he said back ordered. This means serious damage? hmmm). I asked the location of the body shop but no answer yet.

I am considering placing new order as you guys suggested. I asked the same discount for MY14GL but no answer.

DO NOT spend > $70K for a car that you're not happy with. All deposits are refundable.

cancel your order and get a 2014, absolute worst case scenario for a dealer is that it gets turned into a demo vehicle. If the deal is playing games a quick call to MB head office will fix it.

Ychoi, you are in a better place than I am. I got my GL back in may. I drove it for a day and I felt like there was a slight hesitation so I brought it in to get it check out. While my car was there, they somehow dented my rear bumper. They claim it was a hit and run. I was super mad but understanding. They sent it off to get it fix. A day later I got the car back and notice they fixed the dent but now my bumper was out of align. Farther inspection, I notice a piece that hold the rear bumper to the body of the vehicle was broken. I was super pissed but again was patient and let them fix it. The alignment of the bumper was better this time but not perfect. I took it back and they said that thats the best they could do. I have a arctic white GL. I felt that the paint of the bumper was a tad off with the rest of the car. They told me it's normal cause the bumper made of plastic and body of the car is made of steel. laughable right? Anyhow, I still took the car home and was content. A month later there was a hair line crack in the paint on the same spot the old dent was. I took it back and had them fix it again. Well, after they got done fixing it on their way to deliver the car to me, they got into another accident! This time someone reversing out of a parking lot him my car. I don't even know what to do now with my car. It is still sitting at the auto body. I feel like I got screwed!!! Nothing I can do, except my bad fortune with this car.

This is the pic of my ex-baby. The bumper is detached and repainted. Other than the bumper, the car is really beautiful inside and outside. I tempted to pick it up. But I cancelled the order.

From my past experience, even if repainted bumper looked shiny at first, I could notice the different texture and even the paint in damaged area can peel off in a few years. I am back in the market.

Yes. They will refund the deposit today. I will shop around until I get a good deal.

Hello guys

The dealer gave me the same amount of discount. So I placed new order for MY14 GL450. Sep build and Oct delivery. I have to wait two more months. Long journey.. quite painful......Hope no hassles this time....Fingers crossed...

with regard to scratches and accidents, every time i brought it into the Manhattan Benz dealership to get fixed, there would be scratches on the car. and since I had my car delivered by the dealership back to me, there's no way to prove they did it. You would think the dealership would be careful - they aren't. i'm pissed about a scratch on the front. lesson learned. pick up the car and do an inspection before taking it home.
