Valentine V1 hardwiring
Valentine V1 hardwiring
Does anyone know what the fuse setup is on a 13 GL450? I tried to hardwire the V1 and located the fuse box on the passenger side and it didn't work. Of course it wasn't labeled at all. Also anyone have any ideas on where to ground the wire as well? I tried the brackets to the right of the fuse box but not sure if that was a good enough ground our not.

Hi. Disclaimer that I haven't done this on the MB, but am about to on my 911.
Just a quick note that my GL450 does not have auto start/stop so don't think that will be an issue. If you do have a car with that, try the Valentine brown out booster that you can buy for around $25. http://www.valentine1.com/v1info/bob.asp
Anyway, with that out of the way, I'd recommend using the Cooper Bussmann/ATC fuse tap. There are 2 types BB/HHH and BB/HHA - both work. Rather than hooking directly to the fuse.

Pick a fuse that's no more than 5amp, and I wouldn't use one that is for a safety mechanism. I'm sure there is a listing of fuses in the manual. Why not use one that is for the rear wiper or the like.
Good discussion of how to do it on the Porsche forum:
