Noisy aux audio / ground loop

Hi,

Got a 2014 GL450 recently. Does anyone else use their phone or other device to listen to music via an aux input cable (not bluetooth), and also power the phone/device using cigarette lighter?

I'm using a HTC One phone, and with this setup I get unusably noisy audio, lots of strange noises. Apparently a ground loop problem. If I power the phone instead using the 115V plug on the 2nd row then the audio is perfect.

Wondering if this is a common problem or something is wrong with either my phone or car.

check the power wires. If the ground to your install is at place other than factory install will generally create loop issues

A gaggle of MB's
What type of cigarette lighter adapter ?

With what you have - what happens using 2nd row ?

If noise is same from 2nd row adapter I would "suspect" and crummy 12V cig adapter and I would start there 1st if that was me

Yeah, you're both right.. I tried a different cig adapter and problem is fixed. That's what you get with cheap adapters off Amazon :-)
