Escort Radar Install
Has anyone installed a radar detector yet. I want to install an Escort 9500ci but the price I am getting is $1200 for install plus the cost of the radar and cost of mid city engineering module ($450).

The MidCity module is worth ever penny if you want a clean install. The 9500 is a marginal detector and the laser shifters are worthless. Take a loot at the Beltronics STiR+. Far better option and will integrate with the MidCity module perfectly.

I had it installed plus the "live" add on. So far, we've had to replace a faulty controller and struggling to get the whole thing working 100%. It's about 95% and close. The Mid City Engineering instrument cluster module is a must with distronic plus. The ONLY time you see the Mid City display is when you're in the Audio Mode in the cluster (radio, Serious etc) other wise it's audio only for alerts. I added a light in the cluster so, it's green but, flashes red during an alert. I put the Live controller and display in the ashtray so, it's covered by both the ashtray flap and the wood cover. There's actually a slight notch (similer to the vent's notch when they are centered) so the cover stays open covering the ashtray and keeping the cup holders available. Once all the local false alarm are locked out, I RARELY have to access the mute/lock out button.

Can you possibly take a few pics of where they installed your laser shifters, radar unit and also the inside of where the main controller with audio/mute button is installed? I have my old 9500CI sitting in the garage and need to have it installed.
Thanks.

I had a K40 installed in my GL63. Totally hidden and completely satisfied so far.
My installer put blue LEDs behind the turn signal arrows for separate front and rear alarm. I had the Mid Cities remote start installed but with the K40 I saw no need for the display. I wanted the front and rear coverage that the Escort does not have. It does not give as much advance notice as my Valentine 1 but far fewer false alarms so I react as soon as it goes off.

These pics show where we mounted the GPS Antenna and front laser shifters. I would have gone further outboard with the shifters though...and still may.
Live and display are mounted in the ashtray (not the prettiest but, out of sight non the less). USB port and control are in the access space on left of dash. Brains along with Mid City module are up under dash (above brake pedal).
I still may have a more custom/finished approach for the Live and Display but, for now, just happy is all working as designed!

I am just about to tackle the install and figure that will be the hardest part, finding where to access the cabin with out drilling a hole. Also where did you install the radar receiver ?

Where did you pass the wires through to get from the engine compartment into the interior cabin?
