99% of GL's in Toronto are the 350 and they hold the value much better than the V8's, if you only want to compare the 550 with the 63 than go for the GL63 as it comes with pretty much all options that are an up-charge on the 350,450 and 550. I think at the end of the day you are paying $15,000-16,000 extra for the AMG engine vs the 550.

Yeah, my dad doesn't like the 350, that's what I was originally suggesting, but he said it HAS to be a V8. I just called him and told him about how the 550 will save him 16k and he said "I'm not a neurosurgeon for nothing" >.< Classic.... So I guess whenever he gets it I'll post pictures.

2013 GL 450
personally I would get the 450 with all the options and then get an ECU tune (like I did). I personally prefer the front-ends of the 450 vs the 550 and 63 (IMO). I also think you paid a huge (and unnecessary) premium for the engine upgraded when you can just tune it.....especially on the 550. If you have an aversion to an ECU tune on the 450 then I would jump straight to the 63, at least that has a different engine.

Canada is different than the U.S, there is zero leniency here for any sort of modification done to any vehicle, the manufacturer will tear you a new one when it comes to warranty work.

I would go with 550 or 63. Why bother with 450 and tuning if you can get a tuned 550 from MB with most of the packages. A well packaged 450 will be only marginally cheaper and the front grill design is so much better on 550 or 63 in my opinion.

fully optioned 550 is only 2 or 3 k more than a fully loaded 550, difference is that in Canada the 550 comes with most of the options as standard while the 450 and 350 come with few as standard.

Final decision: GL63 with all options except B&O sound and rear seat entertainment (no kids in house anymore)! I'll tell him to send me pics to post when it's here in a few weeks/months.

Good choice, my wife bought the GL550 because the dealer was still 3 months away from getting a GL63. If you've got your mind set on a GL the GL63 is the closest thing to comparing to other SUV/Van's out their like the Escalade, Cayane, Range Rover, etc.

Yup, my dad was told the same today. They said they could get him a GL550 by Monday, but it'd be a few weeks before he could get a GL63. Let's hope it's worth the wait.

He should still have it within a week or two of settling into TO (making constant trips back and forth still settling in) so thats good!

I'm excited for him! For anyone who's waiting for their new GL to arrive! Mine will be here this coming week & I can't stop dreaming (literally) about it! My only suggestion would have been to upgrade to the Bang & Olufsen system. We test drive one with & one w/o & the clarity is remarkably different! HK is incredible but the I've never heard anything better in a car than the B&O!!
