Mechanical reliability

I wonder about the reliability and dependability of these in the long run. Tempted, yet wary.

The past month was a hassle for some of my family members with a 7G gearbox that failed and, many weeks later, down to a 1.4 VW Polo for a long distance trip.

We have desert regions with remote destinations and no support in between.

It's pretty early in the model to formulate much of an opinion on the X166, but based upon what I've seen so far it seems the biggest issue has been the vibrating rotors. There's been a few glitches, but overall there isn't a major thread here on trouble. But we're only about 12 months into the model.

Defective Rotors and pads are the number one issue so far, second is the power folding second row seats which have caused issues with people who have children and booster seats.

The Active Curve System on my '14 failed the 3rd day I had the vehicle, seemingly during the first time I raised the off-road suspension to level 3. I'm chalking it up to some sort of factory production error or a defective part they didn't catch at the factory, but right now it's in the shop and I don't have the final analysis yet.

I heard some people get theirs delivered with around 11 miles, mine had 6, so I'm guessing it wasn't one of the ones they randomly pick to run around the test track at the factory? Too bad, they prob would have caught this.

Agree......and.....the MY13 is my third GL450.......I have had no serious issues on any of them. One "creaking suspension" problem on the 07, nothing on the 11, and nothing on this one as yet . 60k on the 0, 40k on the 11, and 12500 on this one.
