Does anyone have mud flaps on the new Gen GL? I have the AMG package on mine and have heard that the previous gen GL's with the AMG kit can not have the mud flaps on the front but can have it on the back, just wondering if anyone has it or is considering it, I have financed this vehicle so I plan to keep it.
We haven't gotten our GL450 yet, but we did order the mud flaps and the dealer will install them. We don't have the AMG, though. We have mudflaps on our current SUV and we like them, especially during the winter months with road salts and sand. I was surprised not to see them much on the GL's, or see many pictures with them on. I don't mind the look.
We ordered the appearance package with running boards, and also the mudflaps. But the mudflaps are bought and installed from the dealer. They didn't tell us it wasn't compatible, but I guess we will find out. I'll update when I receive it (prod date is 10/30), unless someone else here knows the answer. Sure hoping we can utilize them.

not sure what appearance package is, I will post a picture of my vehicle (Sport Package) shortly so you can see if this is the package you have.
Some dealers are telling me its possible, another said maybe, it all depends on the VIN
This is the sport package that you cant get the mudguards with, the tires are 10 inches wide versus the 9 or 9.5 that you get with the 20 inch rims to there is an arch which I have been told is the reason you cant get flaps on the AMG models. such a bummer!
I was told by dealer that they would (they stock and install them), but when I just went to look at the photo on the MB site I noticed that it said: "Not available for GL550, GL63 AMG or models with side running boards."

My GL450 came in today. Can't take it home until Thursday, but went in to look at it and decide the options for tinting, clear film, etc. You CAN get mudflaps with the running boards. The regular set will work on the back wheels, and my dealer is ordering a different set from MB that's meant to work with the front wheels and still accommodate the running boards. Here are some photos I snapped of the guys holding them up to the vehicle. I will take some more pics after they are installed. The ones in the front wheel pics are very similar to the ones they are ordering but not the exact fit they need.

still wont work with the sport pack in canada or GL550/63 in the usa.

Here's a snapshot of the mudflaps installed on our GL450. The rear mudflaps are the standard ones (come in a pair) and the front ones are part #1668900578, which our dealer ordered. It's an MB part specially made to fit around the running boards.
Just came in yesterday. Love it so far. Mudflaps aren't very noticeable on our black vehicle, and I don't mind the look. It's an SUV, after all.

I agree, but am trying to convince my wife that they aren't an eye sore. She has a diamond white metallic GL, so I think they would be more noticeable.
Putting mudflaps on an AMG body (std. on U.S. GL550 & available in other markets as an AMG appearance package) seems incongruous and I am sure the designers intentionally did not want to adversely affect the appearance of these vehicles with a factory fitted option/accessory so one was never designed for the AMG body. I have been considering an 'invisible shield' product that could potentially be mounted behind the wheels to protect the finish from gravel and will research this once my new vehicle has been delivered. Has anyone done this on their vehicle - specifically protecting the finish from wheel debris?
