Picked up new 2014 GL 450 with Panorama Sunroof, 3rd row has the shade
This is just an FYI because I know some earlier models did not have the 3rd row rear sunshade with the Pano roof.
We picked up our 2014 GL450 yesterday and was happily surprised to see it has the 3rd row sun shade just like our 2011 GL450 had (We did not have the Pano sunroof in the 2011 model).
The 2014 GL450 in the showroom did not have the rear sunshade so I think it might be more of a production date build addition.

a handful of members here did not know the definitive answer because the quarter window power was a deleted item off MY2013.

by the way, is the shade like the one from the previous generation X164? like you can slide it open and closed?
another member here posted pics of a new MY2014 550 and it had a removable shade type thing that didn't look very appealing ....

I will take a look this evening and let you know ... I noticed the shade yesterday when we picked up the car but that was from the front seat, I didn't go into the 3rd row to check it out.

it is not like the old one that was on a roller, this one has to be removed by turning the 2 knobs and taking it out of place.
Of course I would prefer the old method but I am just happy they put one in plus I think we are going to leave it covered 99% of the time anyway and the quality of the shade & the latches are very good.
BTW the second picture doesn't quite show it but there are 2 knobs to turn, one of them got cut of out of my picture.

Congrats on the new vehicle....! After owning 3, I really believe the GL is the finest SUV out there ( yes, i know , there can be problems......with any!) Wish MB would stop messing with "options" "packages" and such.....or......just put it all out there on the "list" and let me order exactly what I want!

Id like to know if the sun shade can be fitted into a 13 MY too as Ive just collected a 13 GL63 AMG this afternoon but had no idea the 13 year didnt get the shade, was actually searching online for prices before I complained to the supplying MB dealer that it was lost. Might still try that but no point if it wont fit into the opening because its missing some parts or something?

For mine it says A1668101720 for YOM22/1 but the MB portal shows it in schematic and it looks like its got 4 clips on it that would hook it into place, if these are male does the roof lining need a female to allow it to clip in or does it just slot into the roof lining opening?
They dont cost much, about £50 GBP here in the UK so a must have if it fits ok?

did the engineers sleep when they came to this? my 2013 MY pano roof have the auto shades for 1st and 2nd, but the 3rd room has NONE, not even manual ones ... seriously? anyone has aftermarket success? ughhhh ... seriously what were they smoking ... ughhhhh

Nothing needed. It is held in place by clips.
From my earlier reading, late 2013 builds come with the 3rd row shade from the factory. When I bought my CPO 2014 GL450, it didn't come with it and I mentioned it to the dealer that it should and they got it for me as part of the purchased.
