They guy said he has an order for a 350. Most people who opt for the diesel would rather have the 350 over the 550
i think he was trying to point out that the AMG sports appearance package is not available in the U.S. unless you get the 550. you can't add it to the 350/450 in the U.S.
it's unfortunate because i would have liked to get the 350 w/ the AMG styling. hopefully MB is listening and lurking on this forum
Yes, I was just saying that you can get the package with a different engine. I'm not sure it makes any sense to me. It's one thing if they are trying to keep it available only for 550 and 63 to make it more exclusive but they are actually offering it on other engines offer in other parts of the world but not in the US. Strange to say the least.

My guess is that a lower percentage of US owners purchase the 350 when compared to other countries. So they don't need to cater to that audience. Rather, they make it 550/63 exclusive so that people pony up the extra money

This would make sense, in the States from what I hear the majority of GL's are still v8's whereas in Toronto I would say over 90% is Diesel.
We happened upon an opportunity to purchase a used 2015 ML350 in Dakota Brown and Beige MBTex. Only 450 miles.
We paid for it- but have yet to see it in person and sign the sales documents-- so we could walk away if....
If we don't like the Open Pore Brown Ash trim.
I hope it looks better in person. On the computer screen- it looks like the side of a Louisville Slugger. Further, the car has a wood/leather steering wheel. I am concerned about it being very cold/hot.
Other than the OP, can anybody speak to these trim options?

We went to the dealer to inspect the OPBA trim and wood steering wheel.
I found both highly objectionable.
The wood is so heavily grained that it formed a distraction.
The steering wheel is so slick that it could be problematic during normal driving maneuvers. Beyond the slick wood, the wheel has no "nubs" on the rear surface to improve grip.
The trim above the glove box was significantly more grained than any of the door trim.
If you like your MB looking like the side of an oak coffin or a Louisville Slugger baseball bat, their Open Pore Brown Ash is just what your doctor ordered.
