Ordered GL350

Just placed an order . Dealer tells us production scheduled for second week of Feb, it was showing yellow but he was able to modify for our needs. He gave us PO#. Now the wait begins.

Here is what we ordered-

Polar White auburn brown/black leather interior ( hope this combo will look good, didn't want silver as we have had too many silver cars other thought was steel grey)
Ash wood trim
Panorama roof
Running board
Lighting package
20" wheels
Heated steering
Heated rear seats
Ventilated seats
3 zone climate control
Premium package
Keyless go
HK stereo
Driver assist package
Parking assist package
Trailer hitch

Thanks to all the posts in this forum we cancelled easy entry option and were able to convince dealer to match Costco customer discounts .This forum rocks.

Any ideas if the build is second week of Feb, when we can expect the car to arrive at dealership?

I would change Polar white to Diamond white, the cost difference is minimal and it looks much better IMO. Consider getting the paint protection as well and taking the car in 1-2 times a year to get the "protection" reapplied

Hi thanks, I know in big scheme of things the cost difference is not much but it is $1500 extra in US. I think we already stretched beyond what I wanted to spend on options. Besides I was worried about ongoing maint of this color

Just curious, we have the Diamond White and I'm unsure why there would be any more maintenance to keep it up versus the solid white?

I'm not saying that there isn't more maintenance, but with past vehicles, the metallic and more so xirallic paints looked better, longer.

Isn't the Diamond White Pearl actually a xirallic paint, even though people refer to it as a metallic? If so, it's a great paint that has some wonderful qualities.

Thanks.

Regarding diamond white, it is beautiful we saw E class today in diamond white. I don't have any facts about paint maint, my comment was my opinion based on dealer stressing need for paint protection every 2 yrs or so. Maybe just another profit making tactics.

it needs it ever 6 months not every 2 years , that goes for all whites not just diamond white. This is a fact.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your last statement. If the paint is in fact xirallic, then it uses glass particles rather than metallic flakes to get the look. Other than if it needs to be repaired or repainted, it should be lower maintenance. I had a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V with a red xirallic and the paint on it was awesome. Even when it had a film on it from road grime, it still maintained a metallic sheen to it.

Enjoy your new vehicle (I'm a little jealous- the one I found didn't included ventilated seats which I really wanted.)
