Manual says must be checked immediately, do not drive, and lists a multitude of possible issues.

That's just pathetic.

 

hmm, sorry for the rough start, hopefully it's something simple in delivery. I would utilize mbrace immediately and see if they can tell you anything, also check the gas cap, it will cause the CEL to go on.

 

don't feel bad. my COMAND unit and dash display totally went dark on Day 6, only a few hundred miles on the ODO. it came on the next day long enough for them to do a software update and it's been trouble free since May 2013.

 

Mine went on a month ago…. it was because I had not properly tightened the gas cap. Called embrace….they said that is the most common issue AND it will take 24 hours from the fix point for the light to go off. It went off approximately 24 hours later. mbrace also said that UNLESS there are any other warning messages….the vehicle is perfectly safe to drive!

Dealer said, "ok to drive". Blamed it on the cold. Was -4 actual temp here this morning.
Said they'll come get it if still on in "a few days."

No mention of the gas cap. But we haven't even used half a tank yet. Ie, we didnt touch the gas cap yet. But I'll check it, thanks.

My battery died less than a week into ownership amongst other issues so its no big deal .

 

My 2nd battery died 5,000miles into ownership and the stop/start system caused the engine to stall....I wouldn't call it disgusting, the service from making the emergency call, to the loan car being provided, to the rectification and updates being done to this technological monster were a great experience...

Yes sure, shouldn't happen, but you know what it is technology, it can happen..Now what is disgusting in my book is when the dealer network or manufacturer doesn't rectify it in a satisfactory manner...

 

There is a bit of misunderstanding in the MB world…..the belief that mbrace can provide vehicle diagnostics….. the y can't
in my conversation with Mbrace i pressed directly on this issue andthey said the following: "as of now, they cannot do an actual 'diagnostic' on the vehicle functions"….. in other words , I tell them what I am seeing and they tell me what the "common cause" is. If I remember correctly, when MB was with the Teleaide program …….they had the capability to get diagnostic info from the vehicle.
