GL Gas/Oil Smell at 20,000 miles!
I brought it into my MB dealership yesterday and dropped it off (and that's when I saw that '14 CLS63 AMG S-Model sitting on the showroom floor, perfectly configured and ready to take me to 60 in 3.4 seconds, I think I'm going to get it).
But today they called me and said that they didn't get an oily smell, but instead an extremely horrible gas smell coming from the car. They practically said that they wouldn't let the car go anywhere off their property, and that they'd be keeping it for a while. They're bringing in an engineer from HQ (or wherever they come from) to figure out what's actually going on here...
Anyone else have any issues like this? Any ideas?

Did you know that car went to 60 in 3.4 seconds on MotorTrend? And, that car had only ContiSportContact street tires! Imagine what it could do with Pirelli's (soon-to-be mine has Pirellis). And, the only reason that it lost against the RS7 and the Panamera Turbo in MotorTrend's testing was because of those ContiSportContacts...I really wish they had Pirellis on at the testing because it would have blown the two away...but I know in my mind that it's better (and still an amazing, amazing performance luxury car).
They (MotorTrend) also dyno'd it (well, the E63 AMG S-Model with the same engine) and it actually has 676 horsepower and 636 ft-lbs of torque...amazing...
I have some pictures of her at the dealership...see below...can't wait until I get her (and I'll post more pictures then)

There aren't any others in the area (they all have Designo white interiors, and I must have a dark interior), so it looks like I'll have to test drive it somehow and then order one...
Still, I'm pretty upset about this...but, I that's life.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Not long ago, a car mag tested an SL600 that ran some incredible times but it came out later that the car actually had a Renntech ECU/TCU tune. This is probably the same type circumstance. I believe it is actually illegal in the US for them to over or under report the hp.

Even RennTech says "Note: We have found the new M157 engine stock performance numbers vary from the baseline figures claimed by Mercedes Benz. We typically see slightly higher baseline numbers than claimed by the factory." and "Note: Mercedes M278 engine performance when measured obtains higher numbers that rated from factory" (that one's for my GL).
And by the way, that RennTech performance page for the CLS63 AMG was for last year's model...so when they say what it has stock, that doesn't apply to this years model. I can't wait to see what the stock performance numbers are on that page for the dyno for the '14 S-Model, because that will be amazing!
MB is known to underreport their cars.

Trust me: MB is known to underreport their cars, and that car has near 676 horsepower. They even somewhat clarified it with me on Instagram when I commented on one of their posts. I also reached out to MBUSA and they confirmed that they way under ranked their M157 for the S-Models (E and CLS) and that it does indeed make somewhere near 676 hp.
Also, MotorTrend wouldn't risk making claims like that unless they were certain -- K&N would have checked that stuff to make sure that it was entirely stock (which indeed, it was).
So, bottom line, that car really does have around 676 horsepower.
But, in the end, that thing really makes 676 hp.
